RDSCC Supports the local Food Bank Aug 24, 2014 - Tuesday, August 26, 2014

The RDSCC invited Fred Scaife and the Red Deer Food Bank out on Sunday Aug 24, 2014 to roll out their BBQ for our event concession. All of the competitors and spectators of the 2014 WCMA Regional Autocross Championship hosted by RDSCC supported the Red Deer Food Bank and enjoyed some fantastic cooking. The Executive Board and all the members of the RDSCC would like to extend our thanks to the Red Deer Food Bank for attending our event and providing such a great service. The RDSCC also donated $200.00 to the Red Deer Food Bank to help add support to FEED THE NEED. Fred Scaife accepted the donation from Jerry Pasman the president of the RDSCC at our event.

The RDSCC supports the local Food Bank. - Sunday, June 21, 2009

NancyEach year just before the Christmas holidays and during the CBC Radio 1 Food Bank campaign we auction a day at the track with our members with all the proceeds from the auction going to the Food Bank.

In 2008 the highest bidder was Nancy from Calgary who bid $1,200.00 to support the Food Bank and enjoy a day at the race track with RDSCC members.

Last December while driving home from work on Christmas Eve CBC radio had on their Foodbank Fundraiser. The last chance bid was A Day At The Races. An opportunity to get into Lotus and a Porsche. What better way to give myself a Christmas present and make a donation to struggling people.

On June 21st at Westerner Park in Red Deer I met Terry Johns of the Red Deer Sports Car Club-Lotus owner. Terry together with Fred-Slowguy in a Porsche, rolled out the RDSCC red carpet. I got 11 trips around a track in some very fast and sleek cars. Aside from the adrenaline pumped fun(and I was just a passenger) the most significant impression left is how a common passion brought together such a great group of people. Seatbelted helmet toting generosity was extended to a gal who had always wanted to know what skill and speed felt like. No price, donation or otherwise can be placed on kindness and grace which translated into A Great Day At The Races.
